Santa Monica Free Ride
Type: Beach Shuttle
How It Works: From Memorial Day to late September,
The Free Ride is an environmentally friendly electric shuttle service that runs passengers on a fixed loop around areas of the coast. Right now, the Free Ride is busy shuttling around East Coasters in the Hamptons and West Palm Beach, but starting this summer in June, L.A. gets its own
Santa Monica Free Ride. General maps show the shuttle traversing a large Santa Monica swath between Wilshire Boulevard to the north and Marine Street in Venice to the south, 4th Street to the east out west to PCH and along the coast down to Barnard Way. Check
their website for updates on exact routes and pick-up points. Come June, you can expect to see brightly-painted zippy little shuttles decked out in advertising designs ready to haul you to and from the beach and surrounding areas.
Price: The service is supported by sponsors, which means passengers ride for FREE!
Features:
- Sponsors sometimes also provide free water, discounts or giveaways.
- Runs from 11 am to 10 pm, later on weekends.
- Did we mention it's free?
