How did B Sweet get started?
B Sweet started in 2009. My husband of 27 years has this affinity for my chocolate chip banana bread, and he said one day I will probably be doing something with it. I never believed him, but here we are. He actually purchased my first chocolate chip banana breads for all his clients during the holidays. I would bake it for him every year, I think I would make like 35 or 45 loaves, wrap it up, and put a nice little tag on it. He would receive all these e-mails saying how awesome the banana bread is. We decided that I should sell this bread and start a business. So, we sold our first loaf of bread at a little café in Santa Monica called Ocean Park Café. I actually called my husband crying on the phone, he was like, “What happened?!” and I said, “I sold the bread. They’re going to buy a loaf of bread a week.” I think I was selling it for $16 a loaf and I thought that was the most amazing thing, because I never sold anything!
