Tiki Ti
This Polynesian-themed tiki bar has been run by the same family, the Buhens, since its opening in 1961 and not much has changed since. Mike Buhen Jr. can still be found behind the bar of the hidden gem that boasts a menu of a whopping 92 tropical drinks as well as a famous drink wheel the daring or indecisive can spin to determine their order. As an L.A. landmark that's been kicking since the Kennedy administration, details such as the miniscule bar space (it seriously fits about 30 people), the "I can't believe you can do that" indoor smoking (as an owner-operated bar with technically no employees, it exploits a crazy loophole), and the "erratic" hours of operation give Tiki Ti its unique charm. And, as an eccentric tiki bar from the 60s, almost every inch of wall is covered in decades' worth of stuff--Island-themed art and decorations, fake tropical fruit, old license plates, and other miscellaneous tchotchkes.
