Other details: The stars that attended the NALIP gala, including Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Andy Garcia, had fun taking group shots and striking the occasional silly pose on the red carpet. In one interview, comic actress and mistress of ceremonies Jill-Michele Meleán claimed to be the first female emcee for NALIP's annual gala and was proud to "empower women." After cocktail hour, guests were ushered into the ballroom and were treated to a live performance by Afro Colombian Electronic band Palenke Soultribe as they dined on filet mignon and salmon and mingled with one another.
