Sometimes it makes more sense to rent instead of own, especially when it comes to expensive clothes. That's the philosophy behind Rent the Runway which threw a cocktail party last night for L.A. bloggers and stylists at the Roosevelt.

You know that pretty dress collecting dust in your closet you bought for a wedding and will probably never wear again but you don't want to abandon because it was expensive? And because you needed to get that dress, you had to settle for not so fabulous shoes to go with it instead of the outrageously overpriced, amazing ones you really wanted and would've gotten more use out of. You don't ever have to let another dress like that hold you hostage now that you can borrow ones from Rent the Runway for a small fraction of the price and give them back when you're done. With a selection of dresses from top designers like Vera Wang, Yigal Azrouël, Proenza Schouler, Temperley London and accessories to rent for 10% of the retail price, there's plenty to choose from and you won't be stuck with a regrettable bill and dress that will never see the light of day again.

To introduce some of the town's tastemakers to the site's new features, Rent the Runway CEO and co-founder Jenn Hyman hosted a cocktail party for L.A. stylists and bloggers at the Roosevelt last night where two of their most popular dresses by Herve Leger and PREEN were on display. A stylish crowd of guests admired the looks as they enjoyed delicious snacks and cocktails and learned more about Rent the Runway straight from Hyman. And as memento of the evening, everyone walked away with goodie bags filled with beauty products and a complimentary rental.

We've armed you with the knowledge, now it's up to you to rent, shop wisely, and splurge when necessary.
