Twin Shadow @ Hollywood Forever
In their description of Twin Shadow's 2010 LP Forget, tonight's performance of which they're sponsoring, KCRW describes the musical project of George Lewis as "The Seventh Seal filtered through the drive-in feel of Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" I don't know what the hell that means, but it's impossible to deny the cinematic aspirations behind Twin Shadow's enveloping, often sinister new wave synth-y tunes, which the former punk band leader recorded on a shoestring in his apartment with the help of Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor. The result is haunting, even when it's ostensibly upbeat, and tonight's show in the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever is yet another perfect pairing of artist and venue by KCRW.
