The Tallest Man On Earth at The Wiltern
With a voice that sounds like Bob Dylan and the stage presence to match, it's easy to think of Kristian Matsson's work as derivative. However, it's probably more accurate to think of it as the continuation of a proud tradition of acoustic singer-songwriters who have all soaked in the music of their predecessors and added their own unique twist to the formula. For the Swedish-born Matsson, it's a threadbare, barely-produced simplicity that only serves to highlight his often complex guitar work and vocal melodies, which are haunting and catchy enough to win over even the most jaded critics.
