Slide #1

How did you get started photographing vacations and getaways in far away places? Was that always what you wanted to do or was it something you arrived at after pursuing other kinds of photography? I studied photography and marketing at Emerson College in Boston before moving to Los Angeles. I worked for a year as the executive assistant to the President of Paramount Vantage on the Paramount lot before realizing I had no interest in film. I started interning for a few famous photographers who did editorial work (including David LaChapelle) and decided I wanted to pursue the Fine Art aspect of photography. I took a class with teacher Aline Smithson who helped define the terms of what this entailed and then one day I was strolling through the Melrose/Fairfax flea-market and asked about having a booth. One month later I began selling my work in a 10x10 tent and did so every Sunday for one entire year. Eventually I met many people who inspired me to shift my focus online which enabled me to establish a larger audience.
