Billy Corgan
7. Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan calls out "posers" in the music industry at a SXSW conversation held by author Brian Solis. Corgan's rant included how today's music industry reformed into something different than how his generation saw it. He even defended Lana del Rey, saying she simply wasn't ready. [Rollingstone]
"[New artists] have grown up thinking that being famous is the goal, not to be respected – not to be dangerous...Don't call it rock & roll, I was part of a generation that changed the world, and it was taken over by posers."As an avid supporter of the social media's decrease in anonymity between fans and musicians, Corgan added,
"There's nothing wrong with technology," says Corgan. "It's when technology is the story and not the artist, that's the problem."[Photo via] Check out footage below!
