FX Harsono, Writing in the Rain
FX Harsono, a central figure in the Indonesian art scene, is now featured at Tyler Rollins Fine Art in "Writing in the Rain." Exploring individual vs. cultural identity, the exhibition centers on a video installation which depicts Harsono writing his name in Chinese characters on a transparent wall, while the rain slowly washes the ink away.
A series of seven paintings accompanies the video, featuring poetry and text from legal and historical documents relating to the Chinese Indonesian community.
Opening Reception: Saturday, March 3, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
