George Boorujy, Blood Memory
Intending to study marine biology at the University of Miami, George Boorujy took an art course and changed his mind -- and his major -- to painting. His newest exhibition, "Blood Memory," is a fascinating amalgam of these two fields. With a naturalist's lens he creates portraits of animals in painstaking detail, and forces viewers to look wildlife squarely in the eye.
Not merely a catalogue of specimens, "Blood Memory" gives its subjects humanity, and raises interesting questions of our own place within the animal kingdom.
