Tuesday night, American Friends of Magen David Adom held its annual New York benefit dinner at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. Hosted by Willie Geist (NBC's TODAY; MSNBC's Morning Joe), the gala honored Barbara Walters with the AFMDA Humanitarian Award, presented by Michael R. Bloomberg. Ambassador Ido Aharoni (Consul General of Israel in New York) and Maksim Chmerkovskiy of Dancing With The Stars were also in attendance. Magen David Adom is Israel’s national emergency medical response organization that provides disaster-relief, ambulance, and blood services, to Israel’s 8 million people. It prides itself on helping those of all ethnicities and religions. Proceeds from the AFMDA dinner will go towards building MDA’s new national blood center in Israel.
