"Best 2K I Ever Spent" Betsey Johnson's Show Is One Big Party

by Mara Siegler · February 15, 2011

Betsey Johnson's runway shows are known for more than just spectacular party clothes---they're known for being an actual party. There was punk music, neon lights, hot-pink gift bags, men in blond wigs, and lots of champagne!

While most backstage shots show somber looking models getting made up and stern-faced stylists going about last minute tasks, behind the curtain at Betsey was all smiles.

And while the chaos was happening backstage, guests in the front row were also having a blast.

The show itself was divided into two parts: The first called He Loves Me Not showed the "Black Tag" collection which is the sexier, more sophisticated line. The second, He Loves Me, showcased the ”Pink Patch” collection, a more affordable line that was modeled by the designer and her employees, both male and female, dressed in blond wigs.

Betsy closed the show in her customary way-- by doing cartwheels down the runway. She then took a bow with her friend, designer Patricia Field.
