Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Quick Facts
-The sisters are from Pasadena, California and launched their design label Rodarte in their hometown after graduation.
-Kate studied art history, while Laura studied literature at the University of California, Berkeley.
-The sisters were the first women and first winners outside of Europe to take home The Swill Textiles Award in Zurich, Switzerland.
-After their first collection, they landed the cover of Women’s Wear Daily and met with Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
-The sisters watched horror films after graduation and used that as inspiration to start Rodarte.
-The sisters have designed costumes for several productions like the Het National Ballet, Move! and the film "Black Swan."
