Bey and Jay finally made it official and tied the knot on April 4, 2008. Instead of a flashy diamond, the couple opted to get matching tattoos on their ring fingers of the Roman numeral IV. The number four has special significance for the couple: Beyoncé was born on September 4, Jay-Z on December 4, and they were married April 4. Beyoncé didn't want a big ring, because she knew that would attract a lot of attention from the press; she does, however, have a wedding band. The wedding ceremony was small and intimate, and no photos have been released.
In her
interview with Oprah, she said that their marriage was inevitable after so many years of dating and that they couldn't be happier. She says that,
"I would not be the woman I am if I did not go home to that man. It gives me such a foundation."
