Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe

While the famously bodacious blonde has certainly inspired her fair share of artists throughout the decades—Andy Warhol, anyone?—Marilyn Monroe was actually quite the creative herself.

Fueling the flame of rumors surrounding the actress and a certain President of the United States, Monroe's painting of a red rose was inscribed to JFK and meant as a birthday gift. Apparently it was never delivered and so the artist re-gifted it to herself, writing below the original note,

"Happy Birthday Marilyn, June 1, 1962, My Best Wishes, Marilyn."

In 2005 it was sold for $78,000.
