A native New Yorker, Abigail has been cast in commercials since the age of three and acting in movies since the age of five.
In the first movie she ever did, she played Mel Gibson's daughter in M. Night Shyamalan's "Signs."
Acting runs in her family. Her older brother Spencer is also an actor, seen in movies such as "The Kid" (as a young version of Bruce Willis), "Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat" (with Dakota Fanning), and with Abigail in "Raising Helen."
Breslin was named after Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams, second president of the USA.
Abigail collects American Girl dolls. She has said Kit Kittredge was her favorite in the series, and ended up playing Kit onscreen.
