The screening of the film also served as the opening of New Directors/New Films '10. The festival is a collaboration between the Film Society of Lincoln Center and MoMA. The showcase of work by emerging filmmakers is in its 39th year.

Bill Cunningham, in his nineties and still riding along Manhattan on his Schwinn bicycle, is a very charming man. Oscar de la Renta has said, "More than anyone else in the city, he has the whole visual history of the last 40 or 50 years of New York. It's the total scope of fashion in the life of New York."

Anna Wintour, Rachel Roy and Veronica Webb all came out to pay their respects and celebrate the opening of the film fest!
