Nothing says "I read books" quite like a tote bag from the Strand.
Nothing says "I read books and I'm rich" quite like Bottega Veneta's new take on a tote bag from the Strand.
Thanks to recently named Creative Director Matthieu Blazy's love of the iconic New York bookstore, the Italian label has given the cult-favorite accessory a luxurious upgrade with three leather-bound versions, complete with the Strand's signature red-and-white logo. With prices ranging from $1,900 to $3,800, they're a bit more expensive than the average tote bag worn by NYU students and downtown hipsters, but they will certainly make you look like an ultra chic member of the moneyed intelligentsia.
To celebrate the launch of the cheeky-cool collection, Bottega Veneta took over the Strand's famous "18 miles of books" for an after-hours dinner party that could only be described as a book-lover's dream.
Produced by KCD Creative Group, the soiree featured an extra-long banquet table stretched along the stacks, perfectly tablescaped with mood lighting, Murano glass vases, and fiery florals from EriN Design's Eriko Nagata. In the heart of the bookstore, guests joining the brand for the intimate fete feasted on plates from Ai Fiori and hours' worth of spirited conversation.
