In the midst of the #MeToo movement, this year's Tribeca Film Festival Women Filmmakers Luncheon, presented by Chanel, was more powerful than ever. Tribeca Festival Co-Founder Jane Rosenthal, and Executive Vice President Paula Weinstein welcomed A-list guests at The Odeon to celebrate women's stories, noting that 46% of this year's TFF featured films were directed by women - a record-breaking moment of (almost) equality for the iconic event.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Zosia Mamet, Karen Gillan, and Alia Shawkat were all in attendance, toasting to female filmmakers including Kate Novack, Hagar Ben-Asher, and Assia Boundaoui.

"As a testament to everyone who is in this room, we know that women’s voices are being heard louder," said Rosenthal. "We are all about the stories that women tell. [Paula Weinstein] has taught all of us at Tribeca that NO is not an option and that we will keep pushing to make things fair."

Indeed, the annual event also supported THROUGH HER LENS: The Tribeca Chanel Women's Filmmaker Program, a multifaceted program aimed towards emerging female writers and directors. We couldn't think of a better reason to party.
