A brand new Housing Works opened up today in Hell's Kitchen (on 9th Avenue between 49th and 50th Streets, if you'd like to go right this minute)! But the hullabaloo actually started last night when Derek "Fabulous" Warburton from "The Real Housewives of New York" hosted a VIP preview party. It also means Ramona Singer, Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen were there.

In addition to the major shopping opportunities, attendees got a glimpse of the documentary, "Derek Loves Housing Works," which goes inside the 20 years the organization has helped fight AIDS and homelessness around the country.
But on to the grit: not everything was la-di-da last night (as you probably guessed). Simon van Kempen and all his wits compared Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin's disagreement on the show to the way our country's currently divided over health care reform. However, he seemed to quickly squash any impending outburst by saying,
"I'm on the side that's right. It's like the health-care debate that went down yesterday. Sometimes the Democrats are right, and sometimes the Republicans are right. I will not say that Bethenny is the bee's knees all the time, or that Jill is the bee's knees. I've at times been close to them both, and at this moment I'm closer to one than the other, but that could change."
Way to go, Simon, that's just what we need: you convincing Bethenny and Jill their squabbles are as important as (something like) 44 million uninsured Americans.
