Collectors, curators, and creative luminaries gathered Tuesday night for The Armory Show’s annual VIP reception at the Boom Boom Room. The Armory Show’s Executive Director Nicole Berry charmed in a floral patterned full circle dress, warmly inspiring the crowd through remarks that touched on The Armory Show’s storied history and sowed inspiration for its future.
Guests entered Boom Boom past a wall richly adorned with roses, vanda orchids and viburnum flowers and were welcomed with lychee martinis adorned with fresh orchids. The room was filled with large votive candles and vases of floral arrangements echoing the flowers in the entrance.
Lively conversation continued to flow over champagne, classic cocktails, and a chicly chef-served meal of filet mignon, risotto, and italian-influenced sides.
In attendance were fashion world darling Timo Weiland, New York Knicks forward Moe Harkless, art mavens Lisa Schiff and Maria Brito, ICA LA director Anne Ellegood, mega-collector Aby Rosen, and dozens more patrons bustling over the celebratory mood that anticipated the next morning’s VIP opening at Piers 90 and 94.
Looking around the room, Armory had cemented its status as a staple of the international art world, and a fixture of the culture of fabric for years to come.
As guests departed, they were treated to luxurious gift bags from Valmont. It was 10pm: time for everyone to head home and rest up for the legendary spread of 183 gallery presentations that awaited them in the morning.
