Mingling With Mannequins At Paola Hernandez Fashion Exhibition

On the eve of NYC Spring Fashion Week 2010, Mexican fashion designer Paola Hernandez debuted her Fall/Winter 2010 collection entitled "It is Always Today" as part of the "Emerging Design", an exhibition of 10 innovative fashion designers at the Sebastian + Barquet Gallery.

Barely averting the fashion week madness that is now in full swing, wine-sipping guests traversed the gallery space and admired mannequins, which featured impressive black and white garments and was complemented with music by Camilo Lara and Brian Chase of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The young designer (follow her on Twitter!), has a background in philosophy and describes her clothing as a means to" discover consciousness, discover a lifestyle, and [to] show your inner beauty on the outside." The jury may still be out on how much "inner beauty" there was in the room, but there certainly was plenty of the latter... and isn't that what fashion week's all about?
