Last week the National Audubon Society's fabulous flock of supporters gathered for the organization's 20th Annual Women in Conservation Luncheon, toasting three extraordinary women for their amazing contributions to the world of conservation.

As Wendall Berry once remarked, “We have neglected the truth that a good farmer is a craftsman of the highest order, a kind of artist.”

Through their work in the organic farming and sustainability movement, Susanne Durst of McEnroe Organic Farm, Kathleen Finlay, President of the Glynwood Center for Regional Food and Farming, and Laura O’Donohue, Founder and CEO of Snow Hill Farm, LLC, have each impressively devoted their efforts to conservation, winning them the prestigious Rachel Carson Award.

Emceed by NBC News’ Chief Environmental Affairs Correspondent Anne Thompson, the sophisticated affair took place at Bryant Park Grill with guests including Laureen Barber, Mark Bittman, Douglas Brinkley, Jayni Chase, Ann Stevenson Colley, Trip Gabriel, Nicole Miller, and Allison Whipple Rockefeller.
