Nowhere in New York will you find a parade of people jogging in suits and gowns other than at Lincoln Center, cutting it close to show time...
Last Wednesday evening, the Upper West Side was aflutter with activity as 475 guests made their way to the New York Philharmonic's annual Spring Concert and Gala. On the program for the special affair? Conductor Gustavo Dudamel led the Orchestra, opening with a performance of Nina Shekhar’s The Mother Is Standing, followed by artist, actor, author, and activist Common's NY Phil debut, and a finale of Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier Suite.
After the concert, guests mingled about the verdant scene, which featured 45 tables elegantly set with spring green linens, yellow and purple-accented florals, and gold votive candles. In total, the Gala raised over $2.4 million to support the Philharmonic's wonderful work in the world of music.
