Last night, every sneakerhead in the city could be found in a warehouse on the West Side, wearing a lowkey hazmat suit, goggles, and a fresh pair of Chuck Taylor All Star IIs. Unveiling the first redesign in 98 years, Converse went all out for the launch, keeping party details exclusive and elusive up until the moment guests walked through the door.
Spray paint, water balloons, and green color bombs covered the walls (where an art installation by Parra miraculously appeared) and the partygoers, the more adventurous of whom took to moshing amid the nuclear fog to a raucous performance by HO99O9. Sure, we got punched in the face and stained our lungs green, but our shoes were comfortable AF.
