The Whitney Museum hosted the 19th Annual American Art Award Gala last night at Diane von Furstenberg's studio.

The event honored Alexander von Furstenberg and The Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation for their commitment to the artistic and cultural heritage of the arts in America. The entire family seems to have a lot of Americana spirit - DVF was definitely the most patriotic at this year's Met Gala.

The fete also served as the launch for "Whitney on Site: New Commissions Downtown," a series of large-scale artworks presented on the site of the Whitney's future downtown building.

Guests included Lorne Michaels, Gilles Bensimon, John McEnroe, Robert Verdi and Lou Reed.
