    New Yorkers put on their best headgear and head onto the roof to celebrate the Kentucky Derby by sipping mint juleps. Anyone who thought Philip Treacy's fascinator for Princess Beatrice, also known as the hat that spurned one of the funnier memes, was something to get worked up about, they haven't seen anything yet....

    If you are going to go through all the trouble to find a huge hat, you might as well take it for a spin in front of the photogs. Guests strolled the red carpet on their way into the event and posed for a chance to win Best Dressed.

    The winner from this event: Purple and butterflies. It's a hat that could make Mariah Carey bawl with happiness.

    Concord Fifty-One Kentucky Derby Party

    New political action committee Concord Fifty-One, a group made of young conservatives, hosted a private Kentucky Derby party on the roof of co-founder Matt Swift's apartment in Tribeca. Nothing says, "lets reduce our dependence on foreign oil," like horse racing.

    And the winner from this party: These two! Clearly it's windy and wearing a hat is annoying. Instead of just removing them, they are sticking with it.
