Mara Hoffman
Mara is known for her prints and warm weather fabrications. Her presentation at the High Line Hotel was set on a familiar stage of boho layered carpets and the old school cool vibe of the venue. "It's a '70s meets '20s eclectic dreamer," she explains before the presentation. "Things that I love naturally and I'm inspired by - Bianca Jagger, Grace Jones. We're print people so we're exploring new fabrications that are sustainable options like using tensiles (stretching of the fabric)." It seems that the future of fashion is eco-friendly - Stella McCartney's been doing it for years. "Some of the stand out pieces from the collection are the deep rich embroidery. I feel the reality of fashion is shifting - we ship these pieces at the end of summer so it's wearable for that time. We are known for warm weather dressing so it's interesting to approach a fall collection. I imagine she's wearing these pieces at the end of the summer, beginning of fall." That's a very optimistic approach for someone who's mastered the ultimate beach/red carpet look.
