Unlike the name implies, Freda is not the name of the wife serving up Mediterranean inspired dishes at this Soho Cafe. Dean Jankelowitz named the restaurant after his grandparents in hopes of bringing a sampling of his favorite home cooked meals to NYC. The restaurant's avocado smash is served with cherry tomato jam, picked carrots and za'atar.
