Actually at first, it was hot air balloons. I did zig-zags in the blouses, and then I started thinking it looked like Charlie Brown, so then I based it off that. So there’s a yellow Woodstock dress, and there’s the blue Peanuts suit.
Was there some influence from your kids?
Oh yeah, totally. I used to watch it with them, and I hadn’t thought about it in years!
Did you draw any inspiration from TOCCA’s earlier lines?
It’s definitely in a new direction, because their stuff was all embroidered - kind of the style of Anthropologie was lifted off the first TOCCA. But the feeling and sensibility of lovely, girly, without being overtly sexy, is there.
