What was the process of creating the fall 2013 collection like?
I think people do it more systematically. This one was based on my friend saying to me, “If I had murdered my husband, this is what I’d wear to court,” and she was wearing this black jacket and skirt, so I made this “murder suit,” and I based everything around it. I was collaging flowers as well, and that also is involved in this collection.
I collage a lot. It came out of doing Lyell - I did the website landing pages, and so these collages, they’re really feminine, really ballet-inspired. But at Lyell, everything was pretty intricate. But TOCCA is more minimal. It evolved into that.
I would say a dark, seductive undercurrent exists with this line.
