How did you get your start?
When I moved to New York in 2000, I was working as an attorney. It was a 24/7 job, but in my spare time I started collecting art. I believe that there is still a huge veil that covers the contemporary art world, where people don't want to open it up to more people because it won't feel exclusive.
I used to go to to a lot of different openings, and little by little, I formed this network with artists and galleries, and people in the arts. I noticed that I had the nicest apartment, not because I had the most money, but because I was finding treasures, restoring furniture, things like that.
I was comfortable making money in my practice, but it was something I hated. When my son was born, I realized life was too precious to be wasted; I wanted to spend time with my child and put my talents into doing something that I really loved.
