The First Monday in May. It is pretty much a national holiday for anyone lucky enough to earn a spot of the infamous guest list of the Met Gala. Each year, the Anna Wintour Costume Institute hosts the event to raise funds to support the only department of The Met that has to seek outside funding to support itself. The lavish party is notorious for the extravagant fashions on the red carpet, but it is the prep and those hush-hush moments at the grandiose party that makes us wish we could afford a plate (a mere $15,000, pocket change right?).
