Did your idea of marriage change after this experience?

My idea of marriage changed so much after reporting and writing this book. I like to say that it was like marriage bootcamp for my husband and I. We crammed at least five years into that first year. And now, I'm pregnant and due in June so we're going full speed ahead. Most romantic comedies end with the engagement and the wedding like that is the ultimate prize. We look at it as a goal or a destination. It's a journey and a marathon and a sprint and sometimes a slog and hopefully an adventure. I love thinking about marriage like an adventure. I try to keep that in perspective now when it gets hard or I'm exhausted by living with another human being all the time or when we get thrown a curveball. So much of being satisfied and happy in a marriage is about perspective.
