Interview: Jane Hruska On Her Design Inspirations, Fashion Week & Lady Gaga

What do Jane Hruska and Lady Gaga have in common? They don't follow "trends."

I don't look at trends, or care about trends. What you tell me is a trend today, is very different from what someone else thinks is an accessory trend today. I'm always surprised how different everybody believes the trends are. To me, a trend is whatever turns you on. I designed a glove that is very different from anybody else's. Lady Gaga has a pair, her mother has a pair, her sister has a pair. I mean, people who see them instantly love them! Want to own your own pair of fingerless gloves? She walked into a restaurant wearing this gorgeous St. John strapless full length gown, and she had just came from an event. She was wearing tiny little rhinestone earrings. She looked magnificent just like that, but I was wearing the "Coco Rhinestone" necklace and told Cynthia she just had to try it on with that dress. When she did, she almost died! So, I gave it to her. Jane laughs. There will be three of that particular necklace, because I have to make myself another one!
