Goldbar Re-Opening
A lot of clubs have been opening up in the neighborhood, most notably FINALE and Bow. How do you guys feel about that?
JL: I actually feel great about it because the more people in the neighborhood, the merrier.
SR: There are a lot of great restaurants, and fortunately a lot of those restaurants are being opened by friends of ours as well. FINALE and Bow are very different from what we do, but I think the mass amounts of people those places will attract is great for us. Goldbar is kind of an anomaly in this business; it's an entity of itself and I don't think we're going to be hurt or helped too much by those things.
Do you think the scene is shifting more to this neighborhood, versus somewhere like the Meatpacking District?
SR: I've been in the industry for 17 years, it's a cyclical type of situation. I think the city is spreading out a little more though. I think the movement that started towards the East Village is now spreading to this neighborhood a little bit. Broome Street is kind of like the dividing line between traditional Little Italy and Nolita, and I think that north of here is where things are starting to happen.
