Interview With GofG's Official Fashion Correspondent, Stylist Natalie Decleve

by guestofaguest · February 11, 2011

Meet Natalie Decleve. Natalie is a California born, New York based stylist known for working her magic on private clients all over the city. With her thumb always on the pulse of the fashion industry, Natalie has an innate sense of what’s new, hot and “now”.

This month, Natalie will be acting as Guest of a Guest’s fashion correspondent, keeping us in the loop as she hops all over New York Fashion Week 2011. Get to know her now –- with a wardrobe to die for and a buzz worthy career on the rise, this is one pretty face you’ll be seeing plenty of…

GofG: Natalie, how long have you been styling? Natalie: Officially on my own: a little over a year, unofficially, much longer…

GofG: What were you doing previously? Natalie: I’ve worked in-house at various fashion brands including Diane von Furstenberg and Kiki de Montparnasse where I managed PR and Events.

GofG: How would you describe your style, and where do you get most of your inspiration? Natalie: I’d say that I am modern classic, with a fashion-forward twist… I’m a Gemini, so I’m a little schizo; sometimes I’m in the mood to channel a modern Audrey Hepburn, and other days I’m much more rebellious, a-la Kate Moss. Basically I like contrast: menswear details with ladylike looks, rough and soft, new and old…

GofG: Speaking of schizophrenic style… With fashion week coming up, how do you decide what to wear on nights when you’ve got an evening full of parties that range from formal, to hip to casual? Natalie: I always say that it’s better to be overdressed than under. So dress for the most upscale affair on your roster. Then, switch up your accessories if you really need to dress it down… For example, taking off a chandelier earring or throwing on a cool scarf can instantly tone down a look.

GofG: Is there any one show that you’re most excited to see this season? Natalie: Everything! I really adore Fashion Week in NYC. To me, it’s better than Christmas - seeing all of the new collections is like getting a bunch of gifts every single day!
