Zac Nichols: Gilded Lily

Zac Nichols has always been far more than a doorguy. His days working at EMM Group got him so inundated with nightlife that while at Acme, and now Gilded Lily, he spends as much time on the creative direction as he does at the door. And that's proved to be a successful choice, as few clubs have had the appeal of Gilded Lily since opening just over a year ago. Zac Nichols What has been your favorite event that Gilded Lily has hosted so far? I think Public School, September fashion week—the second fashion week we did. They had all this confetti and there was a high school band, and I just think it was a good mix between fashion, a hip-hop vibe, and then downtown New York. I think my second favorite was the Glow in the Dark party we just did. Dom Perignon, Carmelo Anthony...it was fun. What is your favorite night of the week at Gilded Lily? Thursday night. We have an awesome Tuesday party now by the way, but Thursday is easily my favorite. We have the prettiest girls there, honestly. I mean I understand there are a lot of different reasons to go to a lot of different nightclubs but a Thursday night at Gilded Lily you're going to see a lot of attractive girls (laughs). Thursday is a good party. Before you started working in nightlife, what was your favorite club to go out to? I think I got here at the tail end of the Beatrice...I like the venues I've been at, still to this date Acme is one of my favorite venues. I still have great nights at Oak. I guess Tenjune and the Beatrice...RIP. What do you do in your personal time when you aren't working the door? So right now I have a film that I just produced that Austin Stark directed called "The Runner", and they just had a viewing of that. It's finished now. I have some other stuff, I have a documentary I'm working on about Andrej Pejic, the model. And then I have a short I'm directing, and it's got some pretty good producers behind it. I have a little side project that's a hospitality project, that I'm working on with my friend Gavin Mosley, who opened the Garrett. We have a second location that I'm working on with him on 12th and A, and I'm going to oversee some of the creative for it. The Garrett East.
