Disco & Claudio: No.8
Few things in nightlife have earned legendary status: the aforementioned Beatrice Inn, Larry Levan's sets at Paradise Garage, the club kids at Limelight. Ask any door-person, and they'll speak of Disco in the same vein...and while we've spoken to him before, this time he's manning the door at Amy Sacco's ever-lavish No.8 with Claudio Pesce, a former Kiss & Fly gatekeeper who trades the mystery of his colleague for a little Argentinian charm. Despite the contrast, the duo have an undeniable rapport...but to get in on the party you'll still have to find your own way to get on their good side.
What has been your favorite event that No.8 has hosted so far?
Disco: I like all of them.
Claudio: We had a good a well known artist, a musician, that did a night here, and it brought a lot of hot models (laughs).
What is your favorite night of the week at No.8?
Disco: Weekends. More people out. Makes the night go much quicker.
Claudio: Wednesday. Our night, our crowd. Don't deal with too many headaches.
Before you started working in nightlife, what was your favorite club to go out to?
Claudio: One club that I started going to that I thought was amazing was Limelight. I was new to the city, new to going out, and I thought that place was crazy.
Disco: The Funhouse. Yea that's way back when. I'm an old timer (laughs).
What do you do in your personal time when you aren't working the door?
Disco: Being a parent.
Claudio: Even though I work in this industry, I'm a homebody. I try to watch a lot of housewives (laughs).
