Karen Dalton
Bob met Cherokee folk musician Karen Dalton in 1961 on the scene at Cafe Wha? in New York City's Greenwich Village. In his memoir, he called her his "favorite singer...[she] had a voice like Billie Holiday and played guitar like Jimmy Reed." They performed together a few times and he recorded "Katie's Been Gone" for her on his album with The Band, The Basement Tapes.
