Hipster Heaven: Passion Pit Performs at Terminal 5

by Cary Randolph Fuller · January 11, 2010

Passion Pit, the Boston-based band that kept you dancing through the second half of 2009 with the release of their first full-length album Manners, brought their act to Manhattan this past weekend at Terminal 5.

The five-piece project, led by former upstate New York resident Michael Angelakos, looks like your typical clique of cool nerds (or are they nerdy cool?). With Angelakos' falsetto and synth-heavy tracks that sound, according to Spin magazine, like, "Bjork on testosterone", Passion Pit joins indie music's latest line-up of danceable darlings. And on Saturday night they kept everyone dancing well into the wee hours or, for this real nerd, way past bedtime.

For the next two months the band will hop across the globe on a brief tour, but expect to catch them back in the States when they perform at Miami's Ultra Music Festival. Until then listen to Manners. Turn the volume up, and dance your hip little heart out.
