A few weeks ago we proposed that Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" music video was a direct rip off of Marco Brambilla's videos. Now it seems like Miss Gaga is the one getting ripped off by Katy Perry's "ET." When I first saw the video for Katy Perry's new single "ET" my inner monster went all "Oh no she didn't!" (snap for emphasis). It is evident that Katy was heavily influenced and essentially copied Lady Gaga's "Born This Way".
In the video Katy has altered her appearance to look other-worldly and is seen floating around in space like some weird alien Empress. I love her and I love the song (which I've been listening to on repeat since last night) but I'm not loving how she copied Gaga. Apparently I'm not the only person who feels this way. Many of Gaga's fans have turned to Twitter to complain about the video:
