Celebrate Brooklyn
Based in Prospect Park, this annual concert series runs from early June through August. The lineup is what dreams are made of. Free highlights include The Violent Femmes and Kristin Hersh (June 18), Alvvays, Ducktails and Big Thief (June 23), Digable Planets with Camp Lo (July 30) and Dr. Dog with the Knights (August 12).
While the venue boasts bougie bites (it's Brooklyn, are you even surprised?), picnics are welcomed. No bottles or cans are allowed into the venue but beer and wine are available for purchase within the bandshell.
Broke Gal Tip: Celebrate Brooklyn features several benefit shows, including Tame Impala (June 14 and 15), Ray Lamontagne (June 22), Neko Case (July 26) and Beirut (August 2). While you can donate to a great cause and purchase a ticket, we won't tell anyone if you just bring a blanket and chill on the lawn behind the gates to the bandshell to avoid dropping $50.
