Grab a drink at the Tribeca Grand Hotel's Church Bar and then head across the hall to the Church Lounge, one of the best lounges downtown. The weekends get hectic and selective, but a weekday happy hour is the easiest way to scope out the scene. From 4pm-7pm you can go for a $10 glass of champagne, a $5 wine or beer, $1.50 oysters, or $5 appetizer plates that are great for sharing on the plush chairs or at the glossy bar. If you want something stronger, try the Blue Eyes (blueberry vodka, St. Germaine, lemon, fresh  blueberries, mint) or the aptly named Tribeca Beckons (vodka, lemon, honey lavender infusion, and a champagne float).
