You've heard it countless times already, and will surely continue to hear it well into the new year: this holiday season is going to be a little bit tighter for everyone. That said, over the next several weeks, many generous New Yorkers are still donating their time and money to groups like Feeding NYC, an organization providing Thanksgiving meals to over 2,000 families. This volunteer-based, grassroots effort is only one of many opportunities to give back to your community this season. With more and more people struggling to make ends meet, charities need your help more than ever!

Visit the Charity Directory of New York for a comprehensive list of year-round volunteer opportunities, or New York Cares for a great list of ways you can make a difference during the holidays.

Interested in helping out FeedingNYC? For a donation of just $35, you can provide a family with an entire Thanksgiving dinner. More hands are also always needed for meal assembly and delivery, which is taking place today at Pier 60, Chelsea Piers. GO HERE to donate or register yourself as a volunteer!
