San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

This Spanish Colonial-style town in central Mexico is a must-visit. While there's no beach—a common expectation for Americans taking a trip to our southern neighbor—San Miguel de Allende pulsates with culture. Shop the art galleries of Fabrica La Aurora, peruse chic boutiques carrying accoutrements of Mexican designers such as Doce 18 Concept House and Casa R Concept store, and listen to Mariachis strum their guitars in Jardín Allende, a central plaza hosting the town's iconic baroque-style cathedral.

Stay at Hotel Matilda, with its 35 rooms, two restaurants, poolside bar, tantalizing spa, and the most impressive art collection you've ever laid eyes on outside of a museum (there's even a Diego Rivera painting).
