Like anywhere on Staten Island, you generally feel far away from the city. It's one of the most beautiful beaches in NYC, so we suggest you shack up for the night either on Couchsurfing.com, or a hotel room. The water is clean, the sand is clean, and the people are really, really nice. Walk around the beautiful pond with picturesque trees and hills and take a deep breath - you have officially left Manhattan.
