The only formal garden in Central Park is a massive six acre flower park named after a conservatory in the late 1800's. You can enter the park on fifth avenue and 105th street. The iron gate you walk through to get inside once stood in front of the Vanderbilt mansion on 58th and Fifth. It's the last standing piece of the Vanderbilt mansion after it was tore down and turned into Bergdorf Goodman. The beauty and serenity of the garden itself will capture you and you will feel you have left the city, even though a slight glance upward proves othewise.
