8th St Wine Cellar
Located below street level on a bustling block in the heart of the West Village, this charming little spot is in an actual "cellar." The bar was a project of two veteran Union Square Cafe barkeeps, Jonny Cohen and Michael Lagnese, and the T-shirt clad duo can often be seen here lending out helpful tidbits and suggestions on their extensive and affordable wine list (every bottle is under $100). The bar offers one of the best happy hours in the city, 4-7pm everyday, and an industry one from midnight-1am, with $6 glasses and $18 bottles on select wines.
